Bren Benoit is a professional clinical counseling intern currently focused on working with children and adolescents.
Bren grew up outside Boston, Massachusetts, and received a BA in Art History from Boston College. After college she worked in several different art museums in Boston and New York before returning to school to study psychology. After several years taking night classes, Bren moved to Oakland and enrolled in at the California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco, where she received her Master’s in Clinical Counseling. As a therapist Bren has worked in elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the East Bay, providing individual and group therapy services to students from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
As a queer identified trans woman, Bren is passionate about supporting gender and sexual minority individuals through advocacy, clinical work, and research. Bren has served on numerous panels on gender and sexuality, as well as publishing research on identity formation among sexual minority individuals.
In her clinical practice Bren operates from a strengths-based perspective to empower individuals within systems of oppression.
